Permission Form- Complete form for your student to borrow books from the Young Adult Section
Please be aware that, as with any library, there are books on the shelves that may contain material you find sensitive. As the parent, you are in charge of your student’s reading materials. In the Bowen Library there is a "Young Adult" section. This subsection of literature is meant for students ages 12-18 years of age. This is a fairly large age group and it includes most of our Griffin Middle Schoolers. Young Adult novels deal with a wide range of themes and the protagonists are generally of high school age and battle with high school problems.
It will be left up to you to decide what you are and are not comfortable with your student reading. I understand that each individual Griffin family has different values and expectations for their children and it is not my place to decide what your child’s free reading should and should not be.
In order to help you be aware of these selections, all "Young Adult" books will be tagged with a red star on the spine. Again, these titles will also be shelved in a separate section in the Library. None of our Griffins may borrow these books without a parent or guardian completing this form to opt them in/give them permission to check out from this section. Only students who have this completed form on file will have permission to take the starred books or any books shelved in the Young Adult section.
