WELCOME TO THE SECOND GRADE MUSIC PAGE
My discipline policy in the Enrichment Classes is different than that of the Core Curriculum Classes. All students start out with an "E" in Conduct. They are allowed two signs in each grading period to maintain that "E". After a third sign, the conduct grade will drop to an "S". They will be allowed two signs to maintain an "S". With the fifth sign in the grading period, the grade will drop to an "N" and will remain there for one more sign. If a student receives seven or more signs in a grading period, they will receive a "U" in conduct. Each student will receive two warnings in class before receiving a written slip home. The student will then start over with an "E" at the beginning of a new grading period. Each grading period is nine weeks long.
In Music, if you look at your child's grade in the parent portal, you will see numeric grades. However, on the Progress Reports and Report Cards, grades in Music are shown as either E, S, N or U.S is satisfactory and is anything 80 - 89.
N means needs improvement and is anything 70 - 79.
U is unsatisfactory and is anything below 70.Some of the things the students will be learning in second grade this year are:
learn to identify pitches in a listening selection
accurately sing a call and response song learned aurally
many ways that music brings people together
signal to show identification of beat and rhythm
signal to show higher and lower pitches
