Keys to Good Behavior

  • General behavior expectations should be followed in the classroom at all times.  It is our expectation that the children coming into the classroom will be able to adhere to a broad outline of behavior principles.  The rules are designed to coincide with the basic acts of common courtesy.  If your child has had prior struggles with behavior and citizenship, we expect you to be proactive with monitoring that area of concern.  The following is a list of proper behavior guidelines that are expected of students:

        * Follow instructions quickly and pleasantly

        * Be prepared with supplies and assignments

        * Raise your hand for attention and permission

        * Talk and move at the appropriate times

        * Respect yourself, others, and our school

Consequences

  • The behavior expectations for our students at Arlington Classics Academy are high. If we feel that a student’s behavior is inappropriate for class or that they are not following the classroom rules and procedures, the following consequences will be utilized:

    1.  Verbal Warning

    2.  The student’s conduct sheet will be signed

    3.  Time-out for reflection

    4.  Parents will receive contact from the teacher by phone call, e-mail, and/or letter.

    At 5 planner signs, students will receive afterschool detention.

    Citizenship for report cards is figured according to the following:

        * Griffins who do not follow their classroom Social Contract, campus behavior expectations, and/or classroom expectations will receive a “planner sign” from a teacher/staff member.

        * Behavior notes equal the following 9 weeks discipline grade:

                  * 0-4 signs = Excellent

                  * 5-10 signs = Satisfactory

                  * 11-15 signs = Needs Improvement

                  * 16+ signs = Unsatisfactory

        * Students receiving an office referral will drop one letter grade. Students receiving a suspension will drop two letter grades in citizenship.

        * Severe disregard for school or classroom guidelines will result in an automatic referral to the office.

    NOTE: Specials teachers are not tied to the figuring of Homeroom citizenship mentioned previously, since they only see students once per week. Look for their information concerning citizenship.
